ALBERT SPEER
(1905-1981) German architect, Adolf Hitler's personal chief architect and minister for armaments and war production. Speer expanded slave labor, supplied mainly from concentration camps. Convicted at Nuremberg and served a 20-year sentence at Spandau Prison in West Berlin. Autographed letter signed, on his personal letterhead, three pages, 6 x 8 inches, Heidelberg, April 19, 1973, in English to American friends, in part '...really I am a bad letter-writer. Almost a month passed since I received your very nice and warm wishes. I am so busy with many things...We are fine. Tomorrow we are leaving for Salisbury...Here we are now and then with a Colonel of the U.S. Air forces, Barnard...We are sometimes really sad that you never come to Chicago...' Signed in blue ink 'Albert and Margret'. Small staple holes top left, mailing folds.
