Polish Seargent WW II Photo Album & Documents
Photo album and documents of the Polish sergeant Franciszek Lis from 1942 - 1947. The set includes: 1. Soldier's Pay Book issued on June 25, 1945. 2. Holder`s Card with a stamp dated June 8, 1944. 3. Album with photos from the service in the Polish Army during World War II and after returning to Poland. Sergeant Franciszek Lis was a soldier in the 77th Infantry Regiment and took part with him in the 1939 war in Poland. After September 17, 1939, he was taken prisoner by the invading Russian troops, allied with Germany. Until the outbreak of the German-Russian war, he stayed in Soviet POW camps. Then, on the basis of an agreement between the Polish and Russian governments, he joined the Polish Army that was being formed on the territory of the USSR. He stayed in forming centers in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara. Then, together with the Polish Army, he was evacuated to Iran, and then to Iraq and Palestine. Together with the 2nd Polish Corps, he took part in the fighting in Italy. After the end of the war, he returned to Great Britain in 1946, from where he continued to Poland in 1947. His route is shown on a map made and attached to the album. The album includes 46 photos from the period of sergeant Flis's service in the Polish Army in the years 1942 - 1947. The first photos come from August 1942 from Palestine. End in 1947 in Great Britain. The second part of the album contains photos taken after returning to Poland until 1968.
