“Tiferet HaGershoni” Frankfurt-am-Mein 11699, first edition, rare.
Drashot and exegeses on the Torah, by the famous Gaon HaRav Gershon Ashkenazi ba’al Avodat HaGershoni, Frankfurt. First edition, rare. (8) 96 page. (Winograd 155). The compiler, student of the Bach and Meginei Shlomo, one of the heads of the fighters against Shabbtai Tzvi and his followers at the start of their path, his manner of study was strong and casuistic and his student, HaRav David Oppenheim wrote about him in his introduction to Avodat Gershoni that “those who forgot during their lives Torah were brought back by his casuistry.” Signatures of ownership on the title page and opposite is written in old Ashkenazi handwriting. Illustrated title page, nice, in purple architectural bordering with plants and figures of angels. Bits of moth damage in the margins. 20cm
