Harav Yehoshua Horowitz of Dzikov (1848-1913) had great yichus. He was the son of the Imrei Noam, the grandson of Harav Elazar of Dzikov, and great-grandson of the famed Harav Naftali Tzvi of Ropschitz. He was one of the leading Admorim and spiritual leaders of his era and was among the founders of the Machzikei Hadas. From his early youth, he was renowned for his brilliance and diligence, and by the age of 18 corresponded with the greatest Torah sages of his generation. His father, who authored the Imrei Noam, attested that by the age of 20, his son had already completed the Zohar twice!
Though supremely humble and careful to conceal his sacred ways, Harav Yehoshua was venerated for his spiritual greatness. In 1877, he was crowned Admor of Dzikov where his Holy Court attracted thousands of ardent chassidim. His written legacy was printed in Ateres Yeshua, on the Torah, Festivals and halachic responsa.
