Superb 1st Class Relic of Saint Lawrence, Martyr, Document, Jeweled Gothic Altar Reliquary. A superb 1st class relic, ex. possible, of St. Lawrence in a grand jeweled altar reliquary. This relic of Saint Lawrence is contained in a lovely filigree sterling silver theca. The theca is housed in a 12" jeweled reliquary with an excellent gold plate. The document is of the highest order, Vicarious Generalis, Rome, dated 1950. One of the 7 deacons of Rome, Lawrence suffered terrible martyrdom being bound and placed on a red hot grill. Lawrence bore the agony with unbelievable equanimity and in the midst of his torment instructed the executioner to turn him over, as he was broiled enough on one side. A great gift to your church since it has the document for public veneration.
