***Auction Highlight*** 1883 Three Dollar Gold 3 Graded ms63 PL Details By SEGS. Attractive yellow-orange surfaces are highly lustrous with proof like surfaces. Exceptional eye appeal. Only 900 circulation strikes of this denomination were produced in 1883, all delivered on December 15. Despite the limited press run, a couple of hundred survivors are thought to exist. Just about half of these are Uncirculated. Less than ten examples have ever earned the PL designation. One stray mark which is not distracting accounts for the details designation. Clearly this is a great example of one of the most instantly recognizable key date issues in the challenging three-dollar gold series.
