***Auction Highlight*** 1786 NJ Maris 24-p Colonial Cent 1c Graded au55 By SEGS. An absolutely delightful New Jersey for both the type collector and the specialist. The surfaces are nicely composed and deliver strong eye appeal. The strike slightly off center to 2:00. Nice definition throughout. The diagnostic crumbling under the first reverse star is nearly a full cud, indicating a late stage of Die State 2. Toned in a marbling of mahogany and chocolate-brown hues. The lines in the lower shield attest to the au grade. The Condition Census for Maris 24-P runs from UNC through EF+, emphasizing the significance of this lovely au55. I have included an au53 and au55 for your comparison, both are Maris 24-P
