Sefer Pilpulah Charifta - Tosafos Yom Tov, Hanau 1716. First Edition. The Personal Copy of R. Yehoshua Leib Diskin.

A complete copy of Sefer Pilpulah Charifta, a commentary on the Rosh pertaining to Seder Nezikin. Authored by R. Yomtov Lippmann Heller, commonly known as the Tosafos Yom Tov. This edition was printed by the famed R. Ezriel of Vilna, who is famous for his Prayer book which was received very well.

This is the personal copy of R. Yehoshua Leib Diskin, Rabbi of Brisk and later in Jerusalem. In addition to his genius and phenomenal breadth of knowledge, R. Diskin was known as a holy and saintly man. As such, his personal Seforim are extremely scarce and sought after.

An inscription attesting to this is seen on the fly leaf. It reads: “[This Sefer] belongs to the famous Gaon, R. Yehoshua Yehudah Leib Diskin”. Upon examining the handwriting, it is apparent that this inscription was written by his son, R. Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin.

Important, unidentified marginal glosses from the period of the book’s printing are seen on some pages. It is clear that they were written by a person of stature, probably a Rabbi of note although we could not identify this handwriting.

Extremely scarce.

In overall good condition. Old binding, detached. Some pages detached. Light water stains.
