Teddy and the Bear Iron Mechanical Bank
Scarce Gray Tree Variant. Made by the J. & E. Stevens Company of Cromwell, Ct. - Circa 1910. Teddy Roosevelt was associated with bears and bear hunting from the earliest times in his presidency. Before the bank is operated, the bear is hidden inside the hollowed out tree stump. However, when the lever is pulled, the foliage cover springs up and the head of a brown bear pops out from within.
