Torah Scroll – Oriental Counties, Early 20th Century - with a case with Ancient Silver Plates

Torah scroll, ink on smeared parchment. Script typical of oriental countries (Wellisch font). With a case. Early 20th century.

The case of the scroll is made of wood, with a dark red (Bordeuax) velvet cover and silver stylish hammered bplates. The silver plates are very ancient and were attached to the case in a later period. Three silver plates are attached in a circle to the upper part of the case, the uppermost of them decorated with a cutout of Torah crowns. On the middle of them, a Hebrew legend "This case and the Torah scroll in it were made by R. Zion David Avraham Shalom for the rest of his wife H. Marimma bat Avraham Ahron S.G.M.Z."

Apparently, the case of the Torah scroll is not the original case of the scroll.

Height of parchment: 52.5 cm. Height of case: 89 cm. Preserved and in good condition. Is not sold
as Kosher.

Please note that the auction house will not provide overseas shipping service for this item.
