Extremely Rare Letter from the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky to the Gaon Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin, Vilna

Extremely rare letter, entirely handwritten and signed by the leader of world Jewry, the gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky, to the gaon Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin. Rabbi Chaim Ozer's letters were usually written by a scribe and only signed by him, hence the rarity of this letter, penned entirely by him.

This letter is not dated, but its content suggests that it was written towards the end of Rabbi Chaim Ozer's life. The letter deals with the welfare of "the avreichim who study in kollel and the heads of the yeshivahs." (He may be referring to getting certificates to ascend to the Land of Israel). He was devoted to them throughout his entire life, hence his moniker among rabbinic leaders of the generation: "Leader of the Jewish People" ["נשיא ישראל"].

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for brief biographies of the gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky and the recipient of the letter, the gaon Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin.

[1] leaf, official stationery, 28x22 cm. Filing perforations.

Moderate-fine condition. Light tears at the edges without damage to text. Stains. The letter is professionally restored.

Pay Attention: VAT should be added to the commission for foreign residents as well.
