R.E. | Published: London: Eyre & Spottiswoode (Bible Warehouse), LTD, c. 1925 | Hardback, original blue cloth with beveled edges and gilt lettering on front board and spine; XVI, 146 pages, profusely illustrated with 75 full-page colored plates, each one protected with a printed tissue-guard. Color frontispiece with captioned tissue-guard | Approx. Size: 12" H x 9.75" W | William Fergusson Hole, RSA (1846 – 1917) was an English artist, illustrator, etcher, engraver and a member of the Royal Scottish Academy. He travelled to Palestine in 1900 in order to study the background for biblical painting and there began working on the 80 watercolors that would eventually appear as illustrations in his books.
