Rabbi Deutsch studied under Rabbi Meir Eisenstadt of Ungvar, R. Yehuda Aszód and R. Shlomo Ganzfried. In 1897, he was appointed Chief Rabbi of the important community of Bonyhad, where he founded and headed a large yeshivah. He was also a prolific writer.
