Handwritten letter in Yiddish by Hagaon Harav Yehuda Assad to his son-in-law Harav Aharon Bichler and daughter Serel regarding family matters.
In this letter, Harav Yehuda Assad informs his children that his wife, the Rebbetzin, arrived home safely (presumably after visiting their daughter). He urges his daughter not to worry and emphasizes that she should be happy and calm.
Red wax stamp imprinted with the name of Rabbi Yehuda Assad is completely preserved.
Hagaon Harav Yehuda Assad (1794-1866), Av Beis Din of Serdheil, was exceedingly pious and one of the greatest sages and spiritual leaders of Hungarian Jewry. He led a delegation of distinguished Rabbanim who appealed to the king to annul the evil plots of the Neolog Jews. During this meeting, he acceded to the king’s request for a blessing for longevity, and this blessing was fulfilled.
Among his famous works are Teshuvos Mahari and his chiddushim on Shas, Torah, and Aggadah.
