Hall's Excelsior Cast Iron Mechanical Bank
Scarce Candy Apple Green. J. & E. Stevens Company, Cromwell, Ct. - Circa 1870's. Excellent Plus Condition. Dating to 1869, John Hall's Excelsior Bank has great historical significance as the first mechanical toy bank patented in the United States. During its long checkered production run, it was offered in a broad array of colors. Today, many collectors seek to acquire as many different color variations as they can find. The candy apple green specimen with red and brown details is perhaps the rarest color of all.
