Glosses by the greatest rabbi in Syria, Rabbi Yaakov Antebi
Rabbi Yaakov Antebi (1787-1847) was a genius who was well versed in all the Torah literature. He was the chief rabbi of Damascus for over 30 years.
In 1840 he was imprisoned by the Syrian authorities, after a blood libel that Jews had kidnapped a monk and his Muslem servant, to use their blood to bake matzot for Pesach, and Rabbi Antebi suffered terrible torture until he was finally released.
