Wall-mounted Memorial Candlesticks – Decorated Back Plate – Sefrou
Wall-mounted memorial candlesticks. Morocco, probably Sefrou, [early 20th century].
Brass, cast and engraved; rivets.
Pair of memorial candlesticks for display on wall. Back plate: openwork decorated with row of three horseshoe arches above row of four half-moons; large central flower surmounted by four-petaled-flower-like ornament. Back plate flanked by pair of removable candlesticks, projecting forward. Back plate reminiscent of those of Hanukkah lamps from Sefrou (please refer also to item nos. 16-18).
