One page, autograph address on verso.
Baltimore: 5th October 1835

J. I. Cohen originally of Richmond, later of Baltimore, where Cohen and his brother served in the War of 1812. Afterward he formed Cohen's Lottery and Exchange Office. Cohen, along with Solomon Etting, helped get Maryland’s Jew Bill passed. The banking house formed by Cohen and his brothers was one of the few that remained solvent after the banking panic of 1837. See Jacob I. Cohen, Jr. (1789-1869) in the Archives of Maryland (Biographical Series).
