Revered Rabbi of Bendin, he was the son-in-law of the Sefas Emes and brother-in-law of the Imrei Chaim of Gur. One the outstanding leaders of the Polish Jewry, he was one of the founders of Agudath Israel and member of the Mo’etzeth Gedolai HaTorah. Among his sons was R. Yitzhak-Meir Levin, son-in-law of the Imrei Emes of Ger and one of the signers of the Israel declaration of independence.
