Chassidus. Likutei Torah by Rav Mordechai of Chernobyl, First Edition.

Sefer Likutei Torah- Words of Torah and chassidic compilations as well as good customs, arranged according to the weekly Torah portion, by Rav Mordechai of Chernobyl, published by Rav Meshulam Zussia Yitzchak Orbach (Averbuch), Av Beis Din of Tlumach. Chernivtsi, 5620, first edition.

This is the first edition of the sefer. Its extreme rareness is out of the ordinary! During that same year, the sefer was printed a second time, with pages just as in this edition, but without the "error list" (which is printed in this first edition, at beginning of sefer) but rather the errors are corrected in the text body.

Rav Mordechai Twersky of Chernobyl, son of Rav Menachem Nachum, author of Maor Einayim and disciple of the Baal Shem Tov. Rav Yosef Shaul Natanson, Rav of Lemberg (Lviv) and author of Shoel Umeshiv writes of him: "and the Rav Hagaon Hatzaddik of Belz... our teacher, the Rav Shalom of Belz, z"l, said during the Shabbos meal, that if the tzaddik of Chernobyl was in our country, he would travel a great distance to greet him."

Rav Mordechai was one of the great Admorim in his time, and was renowned for his great holiness. Among his disciples were: Rav Yisrael of וויעלדניק and Rav Avraham Dov of אווריטש, author of Bas Ayin; all of his sons became Admorim and out of them spread a number of large chassidic branches, nowadays with thousands of chassidim, including Skver, Chernobyl and Rachmastrivka.

Chernivtsi 5620 [1820] - First print. 20 cm. [2] 43, 43-63, [1] pages. New beautiful binding, tear on title page with no damage to text, good condition.

Stefansky, Chassidus 296
