WILHELM I
(1797 - 1888) King of Prussia and German Emperor, an authoritarian ruler who led the German armies in the Franco-Prussian War and supported Bismarck in his efforts to strengthen Prussian control of Germany. Wonderful manuscript D.S. 'Wilhelm' as king, 10pp. 14 x 10 in. on fine vellum, untranslated but clearly pertaining to MARIA VON URACH, a member of the Wurttemberg dynasty and one of many reigning over small realms in Germany into the 20th century. It appears that Wilhelm has bestowed a title with a coat of arms, as the documents includes a beautiful hand-painted rendering of a coat of arms which incorporates the seal of the Wurttemberg family. The document, in new condition, is tied with braided cords to a felt-covered portfolio bearing red ribbons.
