HANS-ERICH VOSS
(1897 - 1969) German Vice Admiral and one of the final occupants of the Fuhrerbunker during the battle of Berlin in 1945, among the last people to see both Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels before their suicides. Good content T.L.S. in German, 1p. 4to., Schonau b. Berchtesgaden, June 21, 1959, to a researcher, discussing the 20th of July 1944 Wound Badge - the rarest Wound Badge presented in the Third Reich, given to just a handful of officers and aides (including Voss) that were injured on the failed bomb attempt on Hitler's life. In part: 'The badge was only available to participants in the Fuhrer's meeting on July 20th, 1944...The following were given: Field Marshal Keitel, Generaloberst Jodl [he lists eight other recipients]...as you can see by the crosses, half of the entrusted are no longer alive...' Above seven names, Voss annotates a cross in black ink. Voss signs in full at the conclusion. Fine condition.
