GOTTLOB BERGER
(1896 - 1975) German SS general, Chief of Staff for the military SS and head of the SS main leadership office. Convicted in the Nuremberg trials for his role in the murder of European Jews and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Oversized S.P., 14 x 10 in. b/w, an image of Heinrich Himmler greeting two wounded Dutch members of the SS-Panzer Division 'Wiking', signed at lower-right setting forth his ranks and dates he held those offices. Two vertical creases near the center do not substantially detract. Matted in with silver wool fillets and black felt, and an engraved plaque.
