GERD VON RUNDSTEDT
(1875 - 1953) German field marshal who led the blitzkrieg attack on France, seizing the country within two weeks, defeated by Allied forces in Normandy and in the desperate Battle of the Bulge. Interesting typed D.S. on International Red Cross letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Hamburg, Nov. 9, 1948, confirming his receipt of 200 cigarettes through the Argentinian Red Cross. He signs at the conclusion in pencil, adding the ironic title (given his status as a P.O.W) of 'Lagerfuhrer' ('camp commander'). Two file holes, one deep crease at upper-left, else fine.
