ADOLF STRAUSS
(1879 - 1973) General in the Wehrmacht of Nazi Germany during World War II, commander of the II Army Corps. A.L.S., 1p., 8vo., British Military Hospital, Hamburg, Nov. 18, 1948, written to a 'Major Bieri' from a British Military Hospital in the last year before his release. In part: 'The 3 1/2 years in the PW camp in England, I thank you for writing letters...My ship will leave shortly for Germany. I am glad to get back to Germany, but I don't know what I will find there. I hope everything will be the same as before. I will not be the same person as I was before because I have to stay in a wheelchair because of a large wound in the stomach...' Two holes on the left side, otherwise fine.
