Heinrich Himmler Signed Copy of Kampfstätten Art Book
Nice copy of the seldom seen book "Kampfstätten Der Waffen-SS in Griechenland" (Battlegrounds of the Waffen-SS in Greece), signed by H. Himmler.
This is a book with a heavy cardboard-like cover that contains 16 pages and nine watercolor pictures of the Greek countryside by J.W. Keller-Kühne.
The book is 11-1/2 x 14-1/2 inch and the prints of the watercolors are bound within the book and not loose.
The black ends seem to be original to the book. Himmler presented this copy as a Christmas gift (Julfest) to SS-Gruppenfuhrer Ludolf von Alvensleben who held the position of SS/Police Leader in occupied Poland and the Soviet Union.
He was later indicted for war crimes including the killing of at least 4,247 Poles under his command but managed to flee to Argentina in 1946 and died a free man in 1970, without having been brought to trial.
