Sam Siegel's Aim to Save Bank Prototype & Model
Unknown American Manufacturer Pat. by Sam Siegel on April 3, 1917 Painted Tin, Sheet Steel, Brass & Wood Provenance: Ed Mosler Collection Frank Kidd Collection Very Fine Condition with Mellow Patina At this time, there are only two known specimens of the "Aim to Save" bank. They were discovered in the 1940's and they were found together. This unusual piece represents Sam Siegel's original concept model for his Aim to Save Bank. Such works are seldom found. It affords us a rare glimpse into the creative musings of a toy designer and how they work. The other known example is copper flashed cast iron. Presumably, it represents the fully developed finished product as it would have looked for sale. It has long been speculated that these two banks were still in the Siegel family at the time they were acquired and that the bank was actually never commercially sold. A rare opportunity to buy a true museum piece.
