Important historical work describing the Jewish
community of Brisk, authored by R. Aryeh Leib
Feinstein. Consisting of two parts; 1 – the history of
the community, 2 – the present state of the community.
Includes important records of the epitaphs on the
gravestones of many of the previous rabbis of Brisk.
The Jewish community in Brisk dated back as
early as 1388 when it was the first to be issued a
permit to create a Jewish communal infrastructure
by Prince Witold of Lithuania. Renowned for its
influential rabbinical leaders and scholars, it was
one of the most prominent communities in Eastern
Europe up until the Holocaust.
