ORDER OF SERVICE ON THE OCCASION OF THE RECEPTION OF TWO SCROLLS OF THE LAW FROM THE CANTERBURY JEWISH CONGREGATION.

The event coincided with the unveiling of
tablets to mark the sites of the Oxford synagogue
and cemetery during the twelfth and thirteenth
centuries, the scene of the martyrdom of Haggai
the proselyte at Osney in 1222, and the celebration
of the centenary of the birth of Adolf Neubauer
(1831-1907) Ph.D. Hon M.A., sub librarian of
the Bodleian Library, reader in Rabbinics in the
university and honorary fellow of Exeter college,
the historian of the Jews of Oxford.
Includes the legal agreement between the
communities of Canterbury and Oxford to
return the scrolls should the Jewish community
of Canterbury ever be reinstated. Additionally
contains prayers for the Royal Family, University,
Mayor and citizens of Oxford as well as memorial
prayers for the departed; both the Jewish residents
of Oxford in medieval times up to those who
perished in the great war.
University press. 24 pages 22cm. Fine condition some
markings. Paperback.
