The painting, depicting the "Christ crowned with thorns" refers to the workshop of the famous Bolognese Master.

The pietistic character of the work derives from Reni's paintings relating to the 1830s of a similar subject. Christ is depicted with the crown of thorns and the suffering gaze turned to the sky. The skin tone is greenish, painted with large strokes of color. The strong contrast of light and shadow only accentuates the pathos deriving from the human suffering of Christ.
