Signature of the great genius Fayvel Floit, one of the greatest students of the Chatam Sofer
R. Chizkiyahu Feivel Plaut (1818-1895), was one of the most eminent talmidim of both the Chasam Sofer and the Ksav Sofer, and for a period served as a maggid shiur in the great Yeshiva of Pressburg. In 1849, he was appointed as Rav in the town of Shuran. Although he was only 22 at time of the Chasam Sofer’s passing, he remained bound to his great Rebbe, as reflected in his monumental sefer Likutei Chaver Ben Chaim published over a period of 15 years. Received with great acclaim, it remains a most fundamental sefer, containing a substantial amount of the Chasam Sofer’s Torah.
