African Tribal Art: Yoruba People, Nigeria. Figure depicting Eshu, the trickster, chief messenger of the creator, which has a tall hairdo and once held two calabashes. Carved wood, 19th Century. The figure is installed on a custom-made wooden plinth.
DIMENSIONS: 27.5"H x 10"W x 7"D; 29"H with stand.
PROVENANCE: Private collection.
CONDITION: The figure is severely weathered and has insect damage.
