Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1973) After/ Manner of: Nature morte (La Cafetiere). Signed Lithograph from Verve peintures et dessins de Picasso 1948. vol. V, nos. 19-20. In 1937, publisher Teriade introduced an art magazine titled Verve, with a focus on bringing the ideas and methods of French modern art to a new generation of painters and intellectuals. The magazine was printed in both English and French with covers and illustrations by influential artists like Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Vasily Kandinsky, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso. These illustrations were often accompanied by text written by Albert Camus, Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce, Andre Malraux, and Jean-Paul Sartre, to name a few. The magazine ran from 1937-1960 with 38 issues. .

Picasso was the most dominant and influential artist of the first half of the twentieth century. Associated most of all with pioneering Cubism, alongside Georges Braque, he also invented collage and made major contributions to Symbolism and Surrealism. 14 x 10 inches paper;
