Mishnayot Komárno. Lemberg, 1861. First Edition

Set of Mishnahs [4 volumes]. Seders: Zera'im, Mo'ed, Nashim and Nezikin. With commentaries: Ma'aseh Oreg, Atzei Eden and Pnei Zaken by the Admo"r Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Yehuda Yechiel Safrin, author of Heichal HaBerachah, of Komárno. Lemberg, 1861. First edition, with the printer's device - a sign held by a bear and a deer. Author's introduction at the beginning of Seder Zeraim.

These volumes of mishnahs were printed in several variants. There are copies lacking the pictures of the bear and the deer on the title page, and those where the year of print is 1862. There are also slight differences in the pagination in the different variants. The pictures of the bear and the deer are in all four volumes before us. However, in two of the volumes, there are slight differences in the pagination. Some of the volumes have the owner's signature of Rabbi Chaim Yisrael Haltovski, one of the most prominent Karlin Chassidim, son of the elder Karlin Chassid Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel Haltovsky and grandfather of the Admo"r of Pinsk-Karlin, shlit"a.

The Admo"r the gaon and Kabbalist Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Yehudah Yechiel of Komárno [1806-1874] was the nephew and primary disciple of Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Zhidichov - 'Sar Beit HaZohar.' Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac was a rabbi in Zhidichov and in Komárno, and became renowned as the Admo"r of Komárno. At the same time, he travelled to the leading Admo"rs of his generation, Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Apta [the 'Ohev Yisrael], and then to Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin as well as the Seer of Lublin (who was also his matchmaker). He became renowned as a wonder-worker and had a large following of Chassidim. He authored works in the revealed and the hidden [aspects of Torah], and is known by the name of his series of books, as the author of Heichal HaBerachah of Komárno.
