Illustrated Ketubah - Ink on Parchment - Modena, 1750 - Signatures of the Greatest Rabbis of Italy
Ketubah on parchment, hand-written and painted, for the marriage of the bridegroom Shlomo ben Chananel Ashkenazi. Modena, Italy, 1750.
The two rabbis of Modena, who were two of the greatest rabbis of Italy, signed the Ketubah: Rabbi Moshe Lifshitz (born in Poland to his father, Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Lifshitz Av Beit Din of Rakow. A great Torah and Kabbala scholar. Died in 1755) and Rabbi Yitzchak ben Rabbi Moshe Formagini (later, served as a rabbi in Triest. Died in 1798).
Frame with a handwritten inscription of the complete chapter of "Eshet Chayil". Decorations of leafs and flowers on the four corners of the Ketubah. At the head of the Ketubah, an illustration of a ornamental crown.
Condition: Fair-Good. The ink is unclear in several places. In the first four lines, several words are erased. Stains. A damage with omission restored by the gluing pf parchment on the reverse side (non-professional). The Ketubah is framed.
