ADAM J. SLEMMER
(1828 - 1868) U.S. Army officer who participated in the Seminole Wars and Civil War, best known for defending Fort Pickens from Confederate attack early in the war. War-date ink signature 'A.J. Slemmer Brig. Gen. U.S.A.' clipped from the close of a letter, 3.5 x 2.5 in., then affixed to a same-size sheet. Very good to fine condition, save for some show-through from mounting residue on the reverse.
