CURT VON MORGEN
(1858 - 1928) Prussian explorer and officer, later general of infantry during World War I. He was a recipient of Pour le Merite with Oak Leaves. He commanded a division as part of the 8th Army at the battle of Tannenberg and at the First Battle of the Masurian Lakes. He later took command of I Reserve Corps and fought in the Battle of Lodz and in the Romanian campaign. S.P., 3.5 x 5.5 in. b/w, a half-length lithographed pose in uniform, signed in indelible pencil on verso, immediately above his rank. Fine.
