HELLMUTH FELMY
(1885 - 1965) German general and war criminal during World War II, commanding forces in occupied Greece and Yugoslavia. A high-ranking Luftwaffe officer, Felmy was tried and convicted in the 1948 Hostages Trial. A.L.S., 2pp. 8 vo., Darmstadt March 11, 1963. It reads, in part: '...after a long search I found a photo of myself. It is from the summer of 38 when I stationed in Braunschweig as commander of Luftflotte 2 and commander Nord. I don't posses any additional written material, everything was burned during a bombing attack in Braunschweig in October 1944...'. Signed at conclusion in blue ink.
