ALEXANDER W. WEDDELL
(1876 - 1948) American diplomat, wartime ambassador to Spain from 1939 to 1942. I.S.P., 11 x 14 in. sepia, a war-date formal portrait inscribed to ex-Hamburg Consul JOHN G. ERHARDT who also served on the staff of Ambassador to England JOSEPH KENNEDY. Sold with a Jan. 31, 1938 A.L.S. from Weddell to Erhardt upon his promotion within the State Department.
