DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER
(1890 - 1969) 34th President of the United States, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day. Good content T.L.S. signed in full on his 'DDE' letterhead, 1p. 4to., Indio, Ca., Jan. 22, 1968 to Irving Asher (1880-1975), an executive for 20th Century-Fox Television, Executive Producer of 'Man on the Ledge' and a collector of presidential letters. Ike expresses his thanks for having been given the opportunity to view Asher's collection: '...it must be almost unique...', and adds: '...you mention that you served under Dickie [Lord Louis] Mountbatten. He is one of the warm friends that I first met during the war in Britain; one for whom I have the highest admiration and regard...' Fine condition, with a 8 x 10 in. photo of Eisenhower.
