John de Melim: Projectile
John de Melim (American, 20th Century): Projectile, embossed etching, signed lower right, numbered (2/20) and titled bottom left, unframed.
John de Melim's images derive from his extensive travels and study of ancient cultures, and his home is a sort of museum of art and artifacts exemplifying his life. John received a BS from Tufts University; a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and an MFA from the University of Guanajuato, Mexico. A longtime educator at Rhode Island College, he was an integral force in the creation of its art department. De Melim brings a mastery of printmaking techniques, painting, and assemblage to his work which takes both two-dimensional and three-dimensional form.
