One preference share, series B, of Bank Hathya limited. Jerusalem; given in 1937. Hebrew and English.
One preference share of Bank Hathya, filled-in by hand. Stamped with the stamp of the bank and hand-signed by the directors and secretary: Rabbi Chaim Pesachowitz, Mendel Naiman, and Rabbi Yisrael Zissel Dvorets.
Bank Hathya was established in the early 1930s by Rabbi Chaim Pesachowitz, who was known as the "red rabbi" due to his communist beliefs. The bank was located in a small apartment on Ben Yehuda St. in Jerusalem and as a condition for receiving a loan demanded that the clients have a philosophical conversation about communism and religion with the "red rabbi".
24X23.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Fold lines and creases. Stains. Small tears to edges. A small hole to intersection of fold lines. Handwritten notations to verso.
