"Iggud Yotzei Vilna" in the Detention Camps in Cyprus- Rare and Meaningful Document from 1948
In the Cyprus Detention Camps, the Vilna refugees gathered to establish a monument in memory of their family members who perished in the holocaust.
Before you- is an extremely rare document- in which is a large list of all those refugees who took upon themselves to donate money for the monument, with their signature.
The list is detailed and comprehensive, including date of birth, their exact address in Vilna and their address in the detention camp.
At the document's head is power of attorney given by 'Iggud Yotzei Vilna' in Cyprus to Shraga Anikest- to collect the money.
Survivors who were not given permission to go to Eretz Yisrael after the holocaust were sent to these detention camps established by the British in Cyprus.
