Heinrich Hoffman compilation of photographs of Hitler with children, "Jugend um Hitler" ("Children Around Hitler"), (Berlin: Zeitgeschichte Verlag), 1935. 96pp. 8vo., with photo illustrated paper covers. Foreword by Hitler Youth leader Baldur von Schirach. A large collection of Hoffmann's photographs of Hitler with children and younger teens, clearly a propaganda effort. Among the last pages are two photos of a young girl who is picked from the masses visiting the Berghof on Hitler's birthday, each image captioned, one reading: "The Preferred Birthday Child from the Crowd", probably because Hitler and the subject shared the same birthday! The girl was ROSA BERNILE NIENAU (1926�1943), called "Bernile" who became known as ""the F�hrer's child"" because of her close contact with Adolf Hitler. Soon after their introduction, it was discovered that the girl, a favorite of Hitler, was one-quarter Jewish, yet Hitler refused to sever his relationship with her until her until years later when her mother was ordered to cease all contact with upper-level Nazis. This book was published after Hitler became aware of the girl's ancestry.
