"WANTED" POSTER FOR PALESTINIAN NAZI COLLABORATOR, CA. 1945

Great Palestine police force "wanted" poster, 12.25 x 16.5 in., containing translations in both English and Arabic, offering a reward of L.P. 500 for any information on HASSAN SALAMEH (1913-1948) of Qula village, providing a full-body image of the individual and his particulars. Folds, some offsetting, else very good. HASSAN SALAMEH (1913 - 1948) was a commander of the Palestinian Holy War Army in the 1948 Palestine War, and a covert operative of the Germans during World War II. Salameh participated in Operation ATLAS, which intended to supply local Palestinian Arab resistance groups and to direct sabotage activity at primarily Jewish targets. On the night of October 6, 1944, Salameh and four other commandos parachuted into Palestine, carrying explosives, submachine guns, dynamite, radio equipment, and some poison capsules to "liquidate" Allied collaborators. Salameh evaded capture, and later took refuge in Qula - the location mentioned in the lot's poster.
