WILLIAM F. HALSEY
(1882 - 1959) American admiral who led the task force attack on the Marshall and Gilbert islands and became commander of Allied naval forces in South Pacific commanding at the Solomon Islands and Leyte Gulf. S.P., 12.5 x 15.75 in. b/w, a dramatic chest-up pose of Halsey holding a cigarette between clasped hands with a map of the Pacific Theater in the background. Halsey signs 'W.H. Halsey' in blue ink along bottom margin, adding rank and a dedication to Professor GEORGE T. PACK (1898-1969), renowned American oncologist whom founded the Pack Medical Group and once operated on Argentinian first lady Eva Peron. Framed. Very good.
