LYNETTE FROMME SEWS A WRIST BAND FOR CHARLES MANSON

LYNETTE FROMME (b. 1948) 'Squeaky', follower of Charles Manson, later attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford, failing to get a shot off when her gun jammed. A.L.S. 'Lyn' and 'L. Fromm' (tear through signature) on transmittal envelope, 1p. 4to., Alderson, Nov. 21, 1981 to Charles Manson biographer Nuel Emmons. In part: '...I decided to go ahead and send on the 2 wrist bands so that you can get them there in December. Do you have any others that haven't gone yet? These were done by both Blue [Manson Family member Sandra Good] & I....' She mentions Emmons' 'project', an interview in which she had seen him, and hoping: '...your getting the bands there as soon as it is right & convenient...' In the same envelope Emmons placed a 9 1/4" x 3 1/2" blue denim wristband with snaps and an embroidered design incorporating at least two reversed swastika designs. From the content of her letter, it's clear the wrist band was intended for Charles Manson. From a grouping of Fromme's letters in the estate of Manson's biographer NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who had once been jailed with and later befriended Manson. He co-wrote 'Manson in His Own Words'.
