LURISTAN BRONZE BIRD SCULPTURES
Appealing lot of two cast bronze bird sculptures from the Luristan culture, semi-nomadic people who lived in the mountainous regions of Iran from around 1000 to 650 BCE. One bird, approx. 5 x 4.5 in., bears a small channel through the top end, potentially to use as an amulet. The other sculpture, approx. 7 x 4 in., remains hollow with the bird's chest containing an ornate pattern and bearing many holes through which light can pass. Notably oxidized, the larger piece can no longer stand upright without additional support. Still in very good condition, especially given their age. Sold as is.
