WILLIAM H. TAFT
(1857 - 1930) Twenty-seventh President of the United States and Supreme Court Chief Justice. Good content T.L.S. on U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Cincinnati, Feb. 12, 1900. In part: "...I thank you cordially for your very kind congratulations...Certainly Yale will not be forgotten by me when I am in the Philippines..." File holes at top, else very good. McKinley had appointed Taft to serve as Governor of the Philippines. As such, Taft improved the Filipino economy and infrastructure, and expanded opportunities for governmental participation for Filipinos.
