Great S.P., 10 x 8 in., a press photograph showing President LYNDON B. JOHNSON and his wife, Lady Bird, with Tennessee governor BUFORD ELLINGTON (1907-1972) and his wife, Catherine. Johnson signs at right in black ink, while Ellington signs at left in blue ink. Contrast a bit lacking, else very good. With his political ally Frank G. Clement, Buford helped lead a political machine that essentially controlled the governor's office for 18 years.
